This is mostly applicable for those applying for adjustment of status (a green card) or who have some temporary right to be in the United States.

You may also need additional proved that you qualify for a work permit to submit during filling out USCIS form I-765 for a work permit.
You will have to present during the application. Those applying as asylee will have to attach a copy of the asylum officer letter or judge’s order granting you asylum.
Filling out the USCIS Form I-765 for a Work Permit?

The only thing I will tell you here is that, pay full attention when filling the form as some areas will require effort. Fill the form and submit it.
You are mostly required to submit the form to USCIS mail. You will have to check carefully on the website for the email address you are required to send the form to. Note the mail you will be required to use varies depending on people using a package courier service or people using U.S mail.
This form can also be filled online and submitted. These are mostly available to F-1 students filing based on optional practical training (OPT).
